Autumn maintenance of the grill

Extend the life of your grill with regular maintenance

To get the longest possible life from your grill, it should be cleaned and maintained regularly. It is particularly important to give your grill a thorough autumn maintenance before putting it into possible winter storage.

First

Turn on the grill and heat it to over 250°C. Fat burning burns off any fat, marinades and leftover food on the grates into charcoal. Allow the grill to cool to hand temperature.

Grates and griddles

Spray Mustang grill cleaning fluid on grills and pairs of grills. Leave to act and clean the grates and griddles with a grill cleaning brush. Scrape off stubborn dirt and grease with the grill grate cleaning scraper. Then wipe the grates and griddles clean of loose dirt with a wet tissue. If necessary, you can also wash the grates and griddles in the sink. Dry thoroughly after washing. Note! If you have cast-iron grates and griddles, use only hot water and a cleaning brush to wash them. Cast iron parts must not be washed with detergent. Mustang grid cleaning fluid is also suitable for cleaning cast iron parts.

Heat distribution plates

Spray Mustang grid cleaning fluid or grill cleaning fluid on the heat distribution plates and allow to work. Clean the heat distribution plates with a grill cleaning brush and finish the cleaning with a Mustang wet tissue. You can also wash the heat distribution plates in the sink. Dry the heat distribution plates after cleaning.

Inner surfaces of the grill

Spray Mustang grid cleaning fluid or grill cleaning fluid on the inner surfaces of the grill and leave to work. Use a Mustang grill scouring sponge and scrub the inner surfaces of the grill clean. Finish the cleaning with a Mustang wet tissue.

Grease tray

Clean the grease tray by spraying Mustang grid cleaning fluid or grill cleaning fluid and leave to work. Use a Mustang grill scouring sponge and scrub the grease tray clean. Finish the cleaning with a Mustang wet tissue. You can also wash the grease tray in the sink.

Outside surfaces

Clean the outside of the grill by spraying Mustang grid cleaning fluid or grill cleaning fluid and leave to work. Use the smooth surface of the grill scouring sponge to clean the outside of the grill. You can also use Mustang wet tissue. Finish the cleaning with a Mustang microfiber cloth. If necessary, you can rinse the cleaned surfaces with water.

Final

After cleaning, put the heat distribution plates, grates and griddles back on the grill. Turn on the grill and heat the grill until hot to remove moisture from all parts of the grill. Allow the grill to cool down.

Once the grill has cooled, protect the grill with a grill cover. However, do not tighten the cover too tightly, as air must be able to circulate under the cover. We recommend that you store the heat distribution plates, grates and griddles in a dry, warm place, although otherwise the grill can be stored outdoors under shelter. When storing the grill for the winter, take care that snow does not fall from the roof onto the grill.

Cleaning the grill after each use and doing a more thorough cleaning at regular intervals will keep the grill and its parts in better condition for longer. And it’s always much nicer to start grilling with a clean, well-maintained grill.
